PROS:
- This is a great band. The activity tracking works great. Heartrate measurement is good enough for my use. Battery life hasn’t been a problem. Screen is great and easy to see and use. Notifications are more useful than I thought they would be. One thing no one seems to emphasize is this is also a golf GPS device. For me, it’s a great added feature that almost no other tracking devices offers.
- When I look at the competitive landscape and read the reviews of all the competitors out there, including the Fitbits, Apple Watch, Samsungs, Motorolas, and Pebbles, I’m very at peace with decision to go ALL-IN with the Microsoft Band.
- Ultra comfortable, works in the background. Genius design. Tracks heart rate without the need of an annoying chest strap. Built in barometer provides far more accurate calorie expenditure than competition. Really it’s everything a smart watch should be. The messaging notifications and calendar tiles are very nice added bonus to this fitness focused tracker. Most importantly, it provides excellent DAILY tracking of nearly all fitness and personal health metrics with exception to calorie consumed.
CONS:
- I wish I could give this device a good review, but I can’t. The software is still a work in progress, but it’s usable. The hardware, well, my watch broke after only two months. The rubber strap separated like a bad tire. I did ware it every day, but again just over two months.
- I wore this band everyday from Nov. 6th or so till Jan 1st. Product started coming apart where the electronics meet the soft area of the band. Sent off for replacement and I’m being told it’s not covered…There’s a weak spot in the design and It’s my fault it’s falling apart after 2 months. Interesting. I’m an avid lifter and used this band to track my heart rate, had protection all around it and took great care of it.I have escalated my complaint to Microsoft corporate office so we’ll see.
- Battery life is still short.
