PROS:
- Excellent build quality. Hefty wight and solid metal housing. It is a bit wire for side ports but not a deal breaker as I also bought a use female to male adapter. Did benchmarks on my Mac Pro 2012 running PCI express usb 3 card and on black magic I was getting 479 reads ar. 1g file and 320 writes.On boot camp I was getting a whooping boot speed of 780mbs on read when copyin a single 4 gig file from my PCI express raid 0 ssd.
- I currently use it to run El Capitan Mac OS, and run all my applications and system from there. I have this USB drive plugged-in all day and night, and the use of it is constant, I don’t use this to transfer files from a compute to another computer, I use this to work on a OS and all my apps, for me its just as good as an internal SSD. This is an amazing product.
- I was looking for a Windows to go USB for a Surface Pro 3, after a lot of testing, I ended up making the investment and bought this one. Wow super fast, I run WTG with Windows 10 and it works perfectly.
CONS:
- The product advertises speeds as high as 450 Mbps reads and 350 Mbps writes and specifically references ATTO and they are technically right. I ran a ATTO test and on default settings saw speeds around 460 Mbps read and 350 Mbps write but and this is a big but, I only stated to see these speed when it started to test block sizes 256k and up. Everything lower than that was way under the advertised speeds. When transferring files back and forth from a Samsung 850 pro SSD the reads and writes were around 39 Mbps on Windows 10.
